Event: Final conference “Improving Access to Community-based Services for Older People Living at Home”

The project ’Improving access to community-based services for older people living at home‘ addressed the specific issue that many older people and their families who are in need of help and care and are otherwise disadvantaged often fail to use existing support services. This is often due to lack of knowledge about opportunities but also due to the negative image of taking up services. Thus access strategies for disadvantaged older people and their families to care counselling were tested in two areas each in Austria, Lithuania and Poland. The project is being carried out and funded within the PROGRESS-programme of the European Commission and is receiving additional co-funding from the Austrian Ministry of Social Affairs. Seven partners from four countries (including the United Kingdom) are involved in the project.

The aim of the final workshop is to present the project results and policy recommendations and discuss which implications these have on an European level.
